Description

Description

Replace or upgrade the PCIe solid-state drive in a variety of Macs.

Requires Mac OS High Sierra 10.13 or later.

Make your factory installed Apple PCIe SSD into an external SSD drive with an OWC Envoy Pro External Enclosure. Transfer data to your new internal SSD and/or keep the original drive as added external storage. The OWC Envoy enclosure is specifically designed for use only with the factory SSD found installed in the Mac models listed in compatibility. Do not attempt to install or use an OWC Aura SSD as external storage in an Envoy enclosure. This may damage the Aura drive, the Envoy enclosure, or both.

My Problem

The MacBook Air I have only had a 121G SSD. I use it for music creation which uses a lot of memory. I needed a larger SSD.

My Fix

Pretty nervous not going to lie. But not cause it was difficult just because it was the first time I had attempted anything like that before. Repair took 15mins and the time mac . . .

My Problem

I had a 128 GB SSD and was constantly running out of drive space.

My Fix

The repair went very smooth with a quick swap out of the drive and recovery of data with Carbon Copy Cloner.

My Advice

Do not be scared to upgrade, it is easy and will change your computing experience for the better.

My Problem

Both myself and my partner use the same laptop. The MacBook Pro has a 120GB SSD from factory. This was too small.

My Fix

Easy change over. Literally took 10 minutes to swap out given I had the correct tools.

I did a Time Machine back up before changing the SSD.

Plugged that in and started up the laptop.
