the initial upgrade took about 30 minutes, but the time to create a back up and restore takes more time. be patient backing up an os, it could take as much as 5 hours too, just depends on what your set up. when the new drive is installed and it's time to power up . . .

Very easy. Pictures on ifixit site were very clear!

My Advice

Hardest part is creating USB drive with Mac OS copy. Need this to boot up computer once new hard drive us in machine and to install OS. Ifixit had no good instructions for this.
