Description

Description

  • This complete set of replacement adhesive strips is specifically cut to fit 27" iMacs from Late 2012 to 2017 and the 2017 iMac Pro.
  • The individual adhesive strips are labeled to indicate their correct location as shown in the replacement guides.

The unique design of the 27" iMac requires the replacement of the adhesive strips whenever the display assembly is removed. Fortunately, these adhesive strips are actually a foam tape, easily cut with an iMac Opening Wheel. Unfortunately, the display has to be removed every time anything needs to be replaced or upgraded inside the machine.

My Problem

Computer lost power, wouldn't restart.

My Fix

Followed the iFixit pictorial guide. Everything went well and the instructions were accurate. The comment someone made about reinstalling the display unit was very helpful. Leave the side and top adhesive tape pull strips on until the two display cables are co . . .

My Problem

Bad hard drive

My Fix

Still in progress waiting for replacement hard drive.

My Advice

Not all hard drives support SMART standard for reporting drive temp. Crossing my fingers I don’t need the additional adapter.

My Problem

Upgraded hard drive to SSD for more speed.

My Fix

Repair went great! I was a little nervous removing the entire glass front of the iMac, but the guide made it easy to take off and put back on with new adhesive strips.

My Advice

Make sure you are familiar with the entire procedure before diving in.

My Problem

The Seagate drive failed. (shocking, I know)

My Fix

Replaced the drive with a samsung SSD. The guide on ifixit was so helpful. I mean, really, really, you cant believe how helpful it was. Its like space ships that hang in the air the same way that bricks dont.

My Advice

SSD took some thinking to mount. Used a modified . . .

My Problem

I was looking for better speed from iMac by the addition of an SSD and more RAM.

My Fix

The upgrade was pretty straight forward following the iFixit and youtube examples. I bought the iFixit adheasive tape kit with pizza cutter, spudger, plastic credit cards, heat sensor for the iMac (OCW) and a mounting b . . .

My Problem

Thought the hard drive was crashing, computer freezing.

My Fix

Got the kit on time, but before the kit came, I did a reinstall of OS X on top of the old install. That fixed the issues.

My Advice

Sometimes a teardown is not needed, but so glad this community and online store exists for our repair needs.

My Problem

My Fix

Anhand der Anleitungen absolut einfach. Man sollte aber UNBEDINGT nicht nur die Bilder anscha . . .

My Problem

The HDD was slow

My Fix

Just fine, everything was smooth thanks to the ifixit.com guides and kit

My Advice

Make sure you don´t leave a gap at the bottom of the glass when sticking back the display

My Problem

The stand on the 27 inch iMac just snaps all of a sudden and your iMac doesn't stand up properly.

See detail of the problem on: https://www.change.org/p/apple-recall-27...

My Fix

The repair was successful. See attached fotos

My Advice

In youtube I see the movies from ifixit.

My Problem

The screen of our 27" iMac had been smashed. We sourced the fixing kit for the new screen from iFixIT.

My Fix

The kit worked brilliantly. All the parts were clearly labelled and were easy to use.

My Advice

Don't worry about doing the repair.
