Features

This complete set of replacement adhesive strips are specifically cut to fit 21.5" iMacs from Late 2012 through Mid 2017. The individual adhesive strips are labeled to indicate their correct location as shown in the replacement guides.

The unique design of the 21.5" iMac requires the replacement of the adhesive strips whenever the display assembly is removed. Fortunately, these adhesive strips are actually a foam tape, easily cut with an iMac Opening Wheel. Unfortunately, the display has to be removed every time anything needs to be replaced or upgraded inside the machine.

My Problem

I replaced a regular HDD with an SSD.

My Fix

It went well for the most part. The pizza cutter tool didn't go quite deep enough to sever all of the adhesive. So I had to use a pick to go a little deeper. Not a big deal. My main issue was that the protective film on the adhesive strips weren't aligned properl . . .

My Problem

The spinning HDD side of the Fusion drive developed unrecoverable hard damage. Led to a surprising number of spinning beach balls.

My Fix

Straight forward. The wheel cut made screen removal quick.

My Advice

Vacuum what dust you can during the job. Also, the HDD rubber boot completely fell apart. I just put the end . . .

Aging iMac needed a caffeine shot. Maxed our memory and upgraded spinning disc with SSD. Like a brand new family computer again!

My Fix

Replaced the stock (x2) 4GB SO-DIMMS with (x2) 8GB, and 1TB spinning disc with a 512GB Crucial SSD. Offloaded bulk of iTunes library (400+GB by itself) to my NAS.
