The stock HDD that came with my MacBook Pro was running a bit slow and consistently added a lot of heat inside the laptop, so I decided to switch it out for a 256 GB SSD from iFixit!
It went perfectly! I followed the guide on iFixit's website and didn't have any problems!
I was incredibly nervous about using SuperDuper, but it ended up being very simple and straightforward
The drive replacement took about 30 minutes, mainly because I was nervous and kept having to wipe the sweat off my hands. Taking out the screws on the battery and HDD were the toughest part. Those suckers are small! But I used the tool kit that came with my new SSD and eventually got it done.
All in all, however, it went very smoothly and was nearly stress-free! I highly recommend using guides from iFixit.
The advice I would give to anybody wanting to try upgrading their computer hardware would be to just do it. I was almost going to spend $2,600 on a new MacBook Pro, but ended up doing my research and didn't even spend $400 on a solid state drive and brand up DDR3 RAM (admittedly got the RAM from Amazon...sorry iFixit team :P). My laptop runs better than it ever has and doesn't even come close to heating up as much as it did before I installed the upgrades.
Put simply: don't throw away a perfectly good laptop just because you want some new eye candy or because you don't think you're qualified to tweak your current system. It's a great learning experience and there's nothing more fulfilling than successfully booting up an old computer with brand new parts inside.

DVD Drive was not used for ages, so time came to replace it with SSD. Prior to dual HDD, System 250 GB HDD was already upgraded to 640GB, but still MacBook was slow. So I added 250 GB SSD and installed OS X to that disk. Now MacBook is much faster.
I have changed Display assembly on my friends MacBook Pro too. Original one was broken. Now he have got brand new looking MacBook Pro )
Installation went smoothly, I used tools which came with Dual HDD Kit. DVD rom connection cable is also working great! I will use it very rarely maybe to burn some DVDs only.
Changing the Display was even easier than installing Dual HDD. I just followed the instructions.
Thanks IFixIt for easy instructions and Fast delivery of the ordered Items. It took me only 6 days to get all perts here in Saudi Arabia.

I thought maybe the Sata cable was the problem so I replaced it and no change so I finally got the 256 SSD... whoa super fast! Now I'm thinking of adding 8gb memory cards.
Easy to follow with the accessory tool kits and anti static mat. Took about 1 1/2 hours start to finish after loading the install discs, apps disc and upgrades. I can still use the old drive to access everything without any problems.
Don't delay just do it! you'll be impressed! Feels like a new laptop!
My 13yo son knocked it out so easy!
I couldn't believe how easy it was!

My Mac mini was running a little slow. Programs were taking time to boot up, and forget about running more than one application at a time.
The guides were fantastic and easy to follow. I had never worked on a computer this small before, so I was unsure about it, but with the older machine, I figured it was worth the risk. Everything worked as advertised.
When moving the Bluetooth and wireless antennas, be careful of the springs! The spring under the Bluetooth antenna shot up, off my desk when I moved the part. I lost the spring under my desk, but found it later.... At the end of my repair

The original 320GB HD that came with my early 2011 13in MacBook Pro was failing so I needed to swap out for a new drive. While living with the ever-present fear that my school computer would bite the dust, the overall performance of the device was also not to my liking. In the recent weeks prior to this upgrade, my MacBooks computing performance could have been matched by a brick. Due to this severe lack of performance, I decided to go with an SSD in the attempt to give new life to my MacBook.
The process went extremely smoothly, no difficulties, and the repair guide was more than thorough. The whole repair took about 10min and after my time machine backup was complete, my computer's performance was much better than I ever expected.
This upgrade is a very simple way of drastically improving the performance of your aging computer. There was no lack of instruction I found in the repair guide and was very easy to follow. My experience with Ifixit has been a memorable one and I have recommended them more than I can count in the few days after I had received my order. The only thing that I have to say is that in the order contents for the SSD upgrade was the SSD, toolkit, spudger, and external HD enclosure. I however did not receive the spudger with my order. This however was not an issue because the process was not any more difficult without it, i only say this because it said it was included. This in no way, to me, warrants a negative strike against Ifixit due to the speed at which my order arrived, the thoroughness of the guide, the premise behind Ifixit, and my overall experience with my dealings with them. I highly recommend them to anyone who requires any electronic part for repair or upgrade and you will not regret your purchase.
