My Problem

My wife spilt tea over her MacBook Air 2012. Because of the water damage Apple Store guys said it'll take almost $1K to fix it, so you can guess my decision… But at least they made the diagnostics so I knew what to replace.

My Fix

Perfectly smooth, thanks for awesome tools and parts. The only tricky part was to put the fan cable back in. Took about 30 mins maybe.

My Advice

Make sure to read every step very carefully before you start doing anything.

My Problem

Fan was making a shrieking noise when on - didn't matter CPU load, etc.

My Fix

Repair was easy - the online guide is so easy to use, and with the right tools it only took us 4-5 minutes.

My Advice

Ha! Once we had replaced the fan, we looked at old one, spun the blades a few times, and out popped a hole-punch hole! And no more obstruction... So now we have an extra fan! :-)

My Problem

Fan started making concerning noises.

My Fix

Every step was clear as day. Took me about 20min and that was me going extremely slow and meticulous. I could do it again in around 7-8min I expect.

My Advice

Just do it the right way with the right parts that are known to work and you'll have no problems.

My Problem

The battery on 2 of our Macbook Air's were pretty much dead. One of the Air's fans sounded like a helicopter.

My Fix

The repair was simple with the iFixit 54 bit driver kit and the replacement parts. The tutorial was spot on with each step.

My Advice

Don't wait to get a new battery. It makes all the difference in the world. Make sure you clean out the fuzz and dust while you have the computer open.

My Problem

Failed fan frightened fellow faculty.

My Fix

Flawlessly finished, fifteen flat.

My Advice

!fear

My Problem

A piece of plastic from a clothing tag fell into the fan and caused it to stop working. I replaced it using the parts from iFixit. Easy repair - works like new.

My Fix

Great - the instructions are spot on. Pictures and descriptions are easy to follow. Total repair time was less than 15 minutes.

My Advice

Follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

My Problem

The fan doesn't work any more

My Fix

Really easy to access the fan can be replaced quickly. The only little problem is to connect the new one. The spudger help but it's not easy to do it

My Advice

as said in comments step 3 & 6 in guide are not necessary

My Problem

The fan in my MacBook Air was growling. Grrrrrrrrr!

My Fix

Easy Peasy.... I didn't even lose the screws, and remembered exactly where each went thanks to the overnight shipping. Overnight? Ordered 3:00 pm eastern time, shipped from California and arrived 11:00 am eastern time in Florida. How can they do that? Plus hubby was thrilled to get his computer back in less than a day.

My Advice

Be sure to get iFixit tool set. There are no "have to make do" scratches on this computer!

My Problem

Daughter stumbled and crunched corner of her laptop, but luckily only the lower case and fan were damaged.

My Fix

Very easy repair. I skipped step #6. If she didn't have homework I would've had my daughter do the repair herself (with my supervision).

My Advice

Purchased new lower case on eBay. Probably didn't need to replace fan-- the case is very thin and could be bent back into shape-- but I did anyway. Thank you, iFixit!

My Problem

Noise from the old fan

My Fix

Everything went ok
