How can I alternative a part inside my MacBook air cheaper?

Hello everyone, this is my first time with ifixit. About my macbook air, I can't use number keyboards, it doesn't show 1 2 3 4...., it just show ! @ # $....., and when I press the launch button, the screen shows very slow. I brang it to an Apple store to check, they said that I need to replace something about 450$ but I forgot what they were. However, It's too much for me. How can I check what wrong with my macbook and how I can fix my macbook with a cheaper price? I appreciate with any helps, thank you.

When I hear of keyboard problems the most likely cause is a spilled drink (liquid damage) or it can be a battery which has blistered pressing up from below. So where does that leave us? Sadly both are expensive repairs ;-{

You might want to review the IFIXIT teardown for this system: MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Teardown. Here you can see whats needed to take the battery out so you can check it and can see how much more work it is to get to the keyboard which is just underneath it.

If you can turn a screwdriver and have a delicate hand you might find repairing your own system the cheapest way using the IFIXIT guides here:

Once you get the battery out take a straight edge ruler to see if there is a bulge. You might even try just loosening the screws enough to reduce the pressure to see if the keyboard is then workable, that is if you are sure you didn't spill anything in. If thats the case its time to replace the upper case.

Some of us do replace the keyboard alone but its a lot more work and its harder still.

Best to just replace the upper case and call it a day. Good Luck!
