iFixit does not do repairs, it just sells parts. It does provide repair guides for you to do it. This forum is manned by volunteers, not by the iFixit staff. Some of us are Professional Macintosh Repair folks. You can take a look at the profiles of the members here to see if they are pros: https://www.ifixit.com/Users

Usually they list their email address and you can contact them for a quote.

That depends on:

  • which of the five generations of 13" MacBook Pro Retina you have
  • what your source for a replacement display is
  • whether you're doing the replacement work yourself, or hiring someone else to do it

As you'll see in the upper right corner of this page, you've misidentified the computer as a Unibody 15" MacBook Pro. If you would provide the last four numbers of your serial number or the EMC number (both printed on the bottom case), we can identify your model correctly and give you better answers.

In the meantime...

13" MacBook Pro Retinas have been through five generations over three years. There are three different display models, which work in different generations of laptop: 2012-2013, 2013-2014, and 2015. iFixit currently has inventory of the first two generations, but none for the new 2015 Broadwell MBP; inventory of the new display will increase as these models age.

iFixit's displays are US$350-450 at the moment, depending on the generation. There are other sources online, which are easily located. I'm assuming that you're planning to do the repair yourself, or you wouldn't be here. If that's the case, the total cost would be:

  • cost of display
  • cost of installation tools (all available from iFixit; $27-42, depending on which generation of display/computer)

If you already have some of the required tools (the list of tools for installing each display is located on the sale page for the display), that will lower the total cost. There are tools you may already have if you've already done electronics repair, such as Torx drivers and spudgers; you almost certainly don't have the Pentalobe driver, which is specific to late-model Apple laptops.

Does your existing display work at all? How bad is the crack, and where is it located? Is the damage just to the glass coating, or is there distortion of the LCD underneath?
