VTech Baby's Learning Laptop Troubleshooting
VTech Baby’s Learning Laptop identified by model number 80-073800.
- Laptop Will Not Power On
- Laptop Display Does Not Light Up
- Laptop Does Not Play Sounds
- Laptop Does Not Change Modes
- Laptop Mouse Does Not Work
- Buttons Do Not Work
Laptop Will Not Power On ¶
"The laptop does not respond when power switched on."
Dead Batteries ¶
If the laptop does not turn on, you may need new batteries. Using a coin or a Phillips #2 screwdriver, open the battery cover on the bottom of the laptop. With the cover open, remove and replace the old AA batteries with a new pair. After the batteries have been replaced, close and re-secure the battery cover.
Faulty Connection ¶
It is possible that the connection to the board needs to be repaired.
Dead Motherboard ¶
If your laptop does not turn on after checking all connections, the problem is a dead motherboard.
Laptop Display Does Not Light Up ¶
"The lights on the display do not work."
Low Batteries ¶
If the light(s) on the display are on but dim, it is possible that your batteries may be low. You can follow the steps listed above.
Blown LEDs ¶
If the light(s) on the display do not turn on at all, the LEDs may need to be replaced.
Laptop Does Not Play Sounds ¶
"The laptop does not play sounds or sounds are distorted."
Low Batteries ¶
If your laptop plays distorted sounds, the batteries may need to be replaced.
Faulty Volume Switch ¶
If your laptop does not play any sounds , there may be a faulty volume switch that needs to be replaced.
Faulty Speaker ¶
If all connections are correct and your laptop still does not play sounds properly, the speaker may need to be replaced.
Laptop Does Not Change Modes ¶
"The laptop does not change modes when the switch is used."
Faulty Switch ¶
If your laptop does not change modes when the mode switch is used, it is possible that the switch needs to be replaced.
Laptop Mouse Does Not Work ¶
"The laptop mouse does not function."
Lost/Faulty Spring ¶
If the mouse does not work when used, it is possible that the spring has become loose in the device and will need to be reconnected or replaced.
Buttons Do Not Work ¶
"The buttons do not do anything."
Bad Connection ¶
If the laptop buttons do not function, the contacts on the board may need to be cleaned or replaced.
