If the vacuum cleaner’s airways become blocked, the device may automatically shut off to prevent damage. Check for blockages by disassembling the wand from the roller head and the bin. Check inside and around each component. Be careful of sharp objects and debris. Remove any obstructions and try to use the vacuum again, as normal.

If the vacuum’s filter is full of debris, the vacuum may lose suction, causing the device to turn off automatically. Remove the filter by pulling out the purple knob labeled "filter" located at the top of the bin. Rinse the filter by running it underwater for 2 minutes. When done, gently shake the filter to remove any debris. Gently wring out the filter to remove excess water. Allow 24 hours for the filter to dry. After a minimum of 24 hours, replace the filter back into the bin and continue with normal use.

If the vacuum’s battery is not charged enough for normal operation, the device will automatically shut off. Check the LED light to determine the battery level. A solid blue light indicates that the machine is in normal operating mode. A flashing blue light indicates that there is no power, and the battery needs to be charged for a minimum of 3.5 hours. A flashing yellow light indicates that there is no power or that the battery is too hot or too cold. A flashing red light requires further assistance from the Dyson Helpline.

This Dyson vacuum model comes with an automatic safety system that will turn off the machine if it begins to overheat. If you find that your machine is turning off intermittently, the filter in your vacuum is most likely full and covering the ventilation system. Remove the filter, then empty and wash it. Allow the filter to dry for at least 24 hours, or until it is completely dry. Before replacing the filter, check and make sure that there are no blockages on the vents. Do not run the device until you have let it cool for at least half an hour.
