My Problem

Repair was pretty easy except for the fact that after everything was complete it turns out I also needed a " owc temperature sensor switch " replacing the oem hd require this cable which connects to the hard drive and temperature sensor ...if not connect the fan thinks the hard drive is failing and speeds up on full steam and becomes extremely loud . 60$ spent getting there part now I have to take apart iMac again

My Fix

Easy repair ,take your time but super easy 30 mins repair time 1 hr if u take your Time .

My Advice

Pick up a owc temperature sensor cable of your doing a hard drive replacement

My Problem

Lost hard drive on computer. All tests diagnosed the hard drive as dead. Taking it to an Apple Dealer was out if the question. More to repair than the computer is worth.

My Fix

Repair was easy thanks to your easy to follow instructions as well as tools that can be purchased from your website. I have already fixed a friends computer that had similar issues.

My Advice

Check out iFixIt first!! If it can be fixed, this is the place to look. Will be coming back here in future if any other problems arise.

My Advice

Plug and Play. time capsule recognized the new drive and immediately stared backing up all our MAC computers

My Problem

My machine was beginning to run slower and with Safari the petty beach ball was appearing a little too often before the web page would load. Then the screen pop panic appeared, all white with no possibility of booting to the desk top screen.

My Fix

With some online research I stumbled upon the IFIXIT site and that was enough to give me the courage top attempt the repair myself. I also checked around with local Apple repair spots that quoted +$300 to fix with parts and labor. With the help of IFIXIT and a ton of savings I was able to get my machine up and running like th issue never happened.

My Advice

The one very important piece of advice is that this fix was made that much easier because I use the Time Machine auto backup program with an external hard drive, I would highly reccomend that if you have an older machine that you make sure that you have back ups ! With that its super easy to restore.

My Problem

iOS could not find the start volume but with a copy on a external hard drive it works (very slow but it works)

My Fix

With the description from iFixit it takes me not 15 minutes to replace the hard disk

My Advice

Perfect description

My Problem

The 1TB hard drive crashed and I reformatted and restored it but then it crashed again about a day or two later.

My Fix

The hard drive replacement was a breeze. It took about 1hour and after formatting the new drive and loading OS X Yosemite all I had to do was restore my files from my backup USB drive. The free hard drive replacement guide was easy to follow. Also it was a nice upgrade from my original 1TB drive to a 2TB. Over all I am extremely satisfied with how everything went.

My Advice

The only issue I encountered was after I completed the install my drive fan was running at max speed. Got on the web and found an app called iStat Menus. This app had a menu that enabled me to control the fan speed with no problem.

My Problem

Easy to do and very inexpensive way to get computer working

My Fix

Very well for a novice at this type of repair.

Great instructions. Could have used info on material to use in replacing the heat sensor to the HD. I used a silicon paste, but wasn't sure this was the right answer. Seems to work fine.

My Advice

For the HD heat sensor cable, I would recommend taking it off at the mother board. i damaged the connector at the HD end (one pin came loose in connector) and had to carefully replace it. Mother board cable connector is much more robust.

My Problem

My iMac's original 250 GB hard drive failed. Since it was a 2008 model, full repair at a service center would cost more than the computer was worth. Aside from the HD, it was in pristine condition & had an Intel processor that could handle the latest version of OSX (Yosemite), so I felt it still had some life in it. I bought a 2 TB drive from IFIXIT and installed it myself. I also upgraded the RAM while I was at it. I'm happy I did it!

My Fix

The repair went well. The overview video and step by step directions are extremely well done - clear & thorough, with tech notes that point out helpful little things that only a full time computer tech would know.

My Advice

I'm detail oriented by nature. Whenever I follow any kind of written or video instructions, I usually find things that could be presented better. You guys do such an impressive job that I have nothing to say but THANKS!

My Problem

Onboard original equipment drive died. Not yet ready to pay for new computer and didn't want to pay Genius Bar prices for repair.

My Fix

Followed directions, took time and it went just fine.

My Advice

Make sure you have correct Torx sizes in hand. Kind a hassle to have to go track down the correct driver mid repair.
