Identification and Background
The Photosmart C4780 All-in-One printer is a relatively compact printer, weighing in at just over 10 lbs. The modern design integrates a mixture of matte and glossy blacks on the casing with HP logos on the outside of the paper tray and scanner lid. This printer supports Print, Copy and Scan functionality.
Like many low cost printers, this printer became popular when Apple ran a deal for college students where you could get this printer for free with the pruchase of a MacBook Pro in 2009.
Basic Specifications
- 1.45" TouchSmart LCD
- Holds up to 80-100 sheets of paper
- PC/Mac support

Ink cartridges
This printer uses HP 60/60XL Tri-Color ink cartridges.
Like any Tri-Color printer, there are instances where you will find your color cartridge is flagged as empty because one color was depleted, and can be checked for using the weight of the cartridge being off balance. This can be mitigated by using all 3 colors equally as often as possible. However, if it still happens, it is possible to refill the empty color on it’s own to recover the cartridge if you are comfortable with the potential mess.
