Introduction

If the printer does not sound like it is running smoothly when printing, or it is not printing as cleanly as desired, consider buying some grease and using this guide to increase printhead mobility and precision.

  1. Unplug the device from any energy sources.

    • Use a plastic prying tool to remove the plastic frame surrounding the glass.

    • Use a T10 screwdriver to unscrew the two screws that fasten the frame to the printer hood.

      • Then, unscrew the screw that is across the printer slider.

    • Pull the white circuit board outwards which is located under the small screen.

    • Unplug the small ribbon cable from the circuit board.

    • Be careful when you unplug the ribbon cable not to use too much force. Using too much force may damage or rip the cable.

    • Pull the memory card reader's circuit board out.

    • Detach the white wiring connector from the back of the circuit board.

    • You may need to use a finger nail or a Plastic Prying Tool to detach the white wiring connector from the circuit board.

    • Then, pull it up.

    • Do not hesitate to use force to remove the TouchSmart panel.

    • Disconnect the ribbon cable from the small screen.

    • Pull the printer hood upward.

    • Carefully, apply a small amount of grease to the metallic printhead track.

    • You can either use your bare finger or wear a latex glove when applying the grease.

      • The grease will reduce the friction between the track and the printhead, improving mobility.

The question is how to clean the Printer Head, unfortunately the site refers you to this page which deals with lubricating the track. It does not address the cleaning question or provide any guidance.
