iSight Camera not working

MacBook Core 2 Duo A1181

I've ordered a new iSight camera, how do I install it? There is a long, difficult guide to taking the screen off, and one for installing a new screen. Is there a way to get at the camera without dismantling the entire Macbook?

Yes, Small Dogs has a nice tutorial on youtube that shows how to access the isight camera without taking apart the whole macbook. But before replacing the camera you may check if the isight ribbon cable is well connected to the camera board. That could be your problem.

If the problem is a bad isight ribbon cable then you'll have to remove the display to replace the cable.

Great Link. Neat little trick with the inverter cable. If no cables need being replaced, it saves a lot of time.
