What did I break?

So I was working on a Macbook Pro and I shut it down and pulled the charger out, and the magnet came loose on the charger and HUGE sparks shot out of the charge port. Now the Macbook is completely dead, new magsafe charger is green and the battery is fully charged but it won't power, chime, or make fans spin at all. So what did I break?

Answer this question I have this problem too

This could be a lot of things. Step one--you're going to need to open that sucker up and get familiar with a multimeter and start doing some serious measuring for diagnosis. Board repair will involve microsoldering. Your first challenge is to dissect your motherboard out of the machine and figure out the 820-number of your board. This will guide you as you search the internet for schematics that you'll need to guide your troubleshooting.

If this doesn't sound like fun, you can send it out for board repair.

Measure PPBUS_G3H on F7040, and depending on your board, measure PP5V_S3 on the appropriate area. You will need a schematic for your board, a board view for your board so you know where to find these things, and a multimeter to do this. If you do not have the time or inclination to find these things, you will need a few hundred bucks for me to do it for you.

Louis, if your going to tout yourself, you'll need to improve your profile and include contact information.

I'd honestly prefer people follow the advice with a sense of curiosity and wonder and come up with new questions to ask me that lead them to a solution, rather than have people send anything to me. There is a reason none of this is filled out.

This is hilarious. I think I did a better job on your profile than mine though--too wordy as usual :(

And I think Louis is telling the truth here--as cranky as he gets sometimes, he really does take more joy from pushing along someone to solve their own board problem from miles away than actually fixing boards in person for cash.
