What what why is this even being argued!!! The connector is an IPEX connector. Yes it may look the same but who cares? I can carry anything from ethernet to fire alarm to LVDS to displayport signals along that connector, just because they look the same does NOT MEAN THEY WILL WORK!!! LVDS connectors? RETINAS DO NOT USE LVDS!!! AIRS DO NOT USE LVDS!!! STOP THIS SH!T!!!! Look at the schematic and it will TELL you what they use. Just because idiots on eBay sell it as a Retina LVDS cable or a Macbook Air LVDS connector doesn't mean it IS one!! There is no Retina or modern(read: not A1304 or A1237) Macbook Air that uses LVDS! eDP is an interesting protocol. It can store an image in the screen without the GPU or the mux being on, it will show the last image prior to it turning off, but most importantly: NO NEW MACBOOK AIRS USE DISPLAYPORT!!! NO RETINAS ***EVER*** USED DISPLAYPORT!!!

First thing's first is never do what someone asks you to. They spilled something on it, first thing they need to know is that it can die at ANY TIME. People never wish to live with the consequences of their diagnosis being wrong. Find a way to measure voltage on C9560 with the laptop on. Does it ever drop below 1.8v?

you shorted something for either a low voltage S0 rail for a large chip which is made to power low impedance loads, or PP3V3 which is a resilient rail. You're lucky it wasn't a 5v or 12v power rail or you would have been &&^&@@. This is an 820-2915 board so it will be fried soon enough anyway without any of your intervention.

Not as much of a piece of as the 2011, but a piece of nonetheless. If you want to avoid these problems dump this on eBay and buy a 15" retina with 820-3662 motherboard, no GPU, NO PROBLEMS!!! If you do want to go about this terrible idea then yes you can spend $650 on an 820-3330, solder an older 2011 A1286 LVDS connector to the board, and then use it in your machine(only LVDS connector is different), but I'll say Itoldjaso when the GPU on that pile dies in a year just like the 2011 ones are dying now. This machine's resale value sits at $850-$900 when it works so to buy a board that is so close to the 3 year deathmark for these(where the GPU starts dying) is insanity, IMO.

While this is open, since you are already soldering, replace C7771. Its time to die is coming.

Replace FL4502 and FL4501.

It's not the cable because this uses displayport, not LVDS. LVDS can do this - displayport is an all or nothing protocol. It's not the graphics since this machine has integrated graphics in the CPU - Intel graphics doesn't die like the junk overpowered undercooled AMD/NVIDIA chips have for the past nine years. It's the screen. Replace LP133WP1 and best of luck!
