Touch ID works but not home button after motherboard swap?

So I bought a perfect looking iphone 5S with a bad esn motherboard on ebay and everything worked fine. I also bought a broken up (externally, that is) iphone 5S with a nice 64GB motherboard. Both phones worked flawlessly before I swapped the motherboards, essentially creating a perfect phone.

Everything went perfectly until I put the perfect one back together and now the home button does not function. BUT the touch ID works like nothing changed. I'm confused. Obviously the button and connection isnt broken, right? Is it just not making a connection? Where should I look to see if it is? I tried restarting the phone a couple times, but to no avail.

Any input welcomed! Thanks :)

Answer this question I have this problem too

So the home button and screen was from a different phone than the motherboard you installed?

by

No, The home button matches the motherboard because I know replacement home buttons lose touch ID capabilities. So I swapped the home buttons along with the motherboards (keeping the matching pairs)

This is new, Touch ID should never work with swapped sensors.

Ah ok I get you now.

You must have damaged it somehow during install as it sounds like it's connected cause the touch id is working

Hmm interesting. It looks perfect to the naked eye. Its been removed before (screen replacement) and was working before i removed it again. Could it be anything else?

Does the power button work? On the iPhone 5, the home button and power button function are often simultaneously lost due to pry damage of a single component on the board.

I've broken one before, when I took off the screen I realized I was using the iPhone 5 guide instead of the 5s guide and I broke the home button.

maybe this is what You did?
