What order do the LCD cables get reconnected to the inverter?

I had followed the hard drive replacement procedure, and didn't mark my 4 LCD cables that go to the power.

Now my computer wont turn on at all, no fans spinning.

It does not matter, the Two Inverter Cables at the top of the LCD plug into the two upper Cables, and the two near the bottom plug into the the lower cables. Polarity is in the cable itself, not the selection of the cable.

After I replaced the hard drive on my early 2009 iMac, I had display issues. The Apple logo had a white square around it the rest of the screen was kind of gray with vertical lines. Objects also had shadowing. I think it was the inverter cables. I had to open it back up and reconnect the inverter cables in the right combination. This corrected the issue. I would highly recommend marking the inverter cables before disassembly so they can be reconnected in the same way as they were before.

Just finished with a hard drive replacement myself on an iMac a1224. My inverter connectors on the motherboard had a little dot on them. I connected all four cables with the clip on the dot side. Powered it on and it works perfectly.

I reviewed the teardown of your model iMac. I also own an iMac and have replaced my HDD 2 times. I never actually disconnect the inverter cables.

This is going to involve trial and error since there are no distinctive differences in the cables. Try different combinations with the cables and you will eventually get it.

Im sorry i cant be of more help to you but use caution and don't give up.

Cheers!

BOOOM

sorry, could not help myself ;)

I would see if the routing of the cables has any clues. Not having an iMAc - I can't even take one apart.

I guess there will be ground, backlight, shield? - realy hard to say from here, just,

I hope it's not

Weird. Was plugged in, unplugged from unit and plugged back in and that did it.

The Inverter cables are interchangeable, it does not matter which order they go.

So.. I have an 07 iMac 20imch and it turns on and boots… I can hear everything and use it as normal… if it had display. The display is completely black and there is. I outline of anything on the screen when I shine my light into it… not sure what’s going on, though it could be my video cable but I have not many ways to test that
