Can I Use a Keyboard from an iBook G4 12" in Here?
so i have had my iBook G3 for a while, the keyboard sucks, though. it has the spongy effect, and after doing some research, i read that the keyboards from iBook G4's are much better, I was wondering if i could buy an ibook g4 keyboard and put it in my G3 with no problem, do they use the same connector? is the cable the same form? thanks in advance.
Also, I have an 800Mhz Model A1005

My daughter didn't like her iBook G4 12" 1.33Ghz keyboard so I installed a iBook G3 12" 800mhz keyboard on the 1.33 G4 and it worked great. Connector was the same, no fitting, it was a very simple swap. I think all iBooks G3 dual USB (not the clamshell) and the iBook G4 have the same keyboard connector. You can even fit a 14" keyboard in a 12" case but you'll have to fold the cable a little under the keyboard.
Clearly you have experience with this matter but I'm afraid I disagree. Student IT has fixed around 20-40 iBooks without ordering any parts (sacrificing two broken ones to make one working one) and due to this method of use-what-you-have I distinctly remember trying to mix and match keyboards between the two versions and the connector of the G4 being smaller than in the G3. Perhaps someone else could suggest their opinion in this matter?

One thing that you can do is take the keys and the assembly from the G4 and install it on the G3 keyboard which would probably make it feel like a G4.
it is the solid white laptop, not the silver/clear one, not the clamshell either
