Nikon Coolpix S6000 Shutter Button Does Not Capture Photo
The Nikon Coolpix s6000 does not capture a photo when the shutter button is pressed.
Missing Battery
The Nikon Coolpix s6000 requires a charged Nikon EN-EL 12 rechargeable Lithium - Ion battery pack correctly inserted in the battery compartment in order to power on and capture images.
The battery is correctly inserted when the positive(+) and negative(-) terminals are aligned and oriented as shown on the label at the battery chamber opening. When inserting the battery into the compartment, push the battery in until the locking mechanism "clicks" into place.
Missing SD Card
The Nikon Coolpix s6000 requires a compatible Secure Digital (SD) memory card in order to store images. The memory card is correctly inserted by sliding the memory card in the memory card slot located next to the battery chamber in the correct orientation until it clicks into place while the camera is off. If no memory card is inserted, the camera will not save photos or movies. If an incompatible or low speed card is used, the camera may fail to record images or will stop recording unexpectedly during video capture as well.
Memory cards should have an SD speed class rating of 6 or higher, especially for movie recording. The following are memory card brands and capacities that are approved and tested by Nikon for this camera: SanDisk- 2Gb, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB; Toshiba- 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB; Panasonic - 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 12GB, 16GB, 32GB.
