GeeksPhone Keon Troubleshooting

Released April 2013, identified by model GP-002(fx).

Device Will Not Power On ¶ 

The device will not turn on.

Device is not charged ¶ 

The device may not be charged. Plug in the device and wait at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on the device.

Faulty Charger ¶ 

Make sure the device is connected to the charger and the charger is plugged into the outlet correctly. If the charger is plugged in and the phone still does not show any indication of having power, the charger is broken. Try purchasing a replacement one.

Faulty Battery ¶ 

If the device works when plugged into the charger but turns off the second it is disconnected the battery is faulty. Try purchasing a replacement one and follow this battery replacement guide.

Bad charging port ¶ 

If the device still will not charge, the issue is most likely the charging port which will need to be cleaned using an air spray. If cleaning it does not help, the motherboard needs to be replaced, because the charging port is permanently attached to it. Go to the Motherboard Replacement Guide to accomplish this.

Screen is Frozen ¶ 

The phone is frozen and cannot be operated.

Device Needs to be Restarted ¶ 

Restart the device by holding down the power button until the device shuts off (around 15 seconds). If the phone still does not turn off, remove the battery from the device by following this guide.

Low Battery ¶ 

The phone might be freezing because the battery is to low to operate the device correctly. Charge the device to fix this issue.

Software Issue ¶ 

If the phone freezes when turning on it may be a software issue. Re-flashing the device can be a solution to this problem. Please refer to the manufactures website for instruction and files regarding this process by clicking here.

Bad screen connection ¶ 

If there is nothing visible on the screen at all, there may be an issue with the devices screen and it needs to be replaced. Go to the Screen Replacement Guide to accomplish this.

No sound from headphones ¶ 

Sound does not output from the Keon’s speaker or headphones.

Volume is muted ¶ 

The phone’s is volume is muted or low. Press the volume up button on the side of the device to raise the volume.

Faulty Headphones ¶ 

The issue may be with the headphones being used on the device. Replace the headphones to fix this problem.

Broken audio jack ¶ 

When sound cannot be heard though a working pair of headphones, the audio jack is broken and needs to be replaced. To accomplish this, the motherboard needs to be replaced. Go to the Motherboard Replacement Guide to do this.

Camera not taking pictures correctly ¶ 

The camera will not take pictures correctly.

Bad Lighting ¶ 

Make sure the environment is well-lit. The camera does not have a flash included, so make sure the subject has enough lighting to be captured.

Obstructions in front of the lens ¶ 

The camera has something obstructing it from capturing the subject of the picture. Make sure there are no fingers or objects covering the camera lens.

Bad camera ¶ 

If the camera still will not take pictures correctly, it may be broken and needs to be replaced. Go to the Camera Replacement Guide to do this.

Weak or no signal ¶ 

The Keon is not receiving good reception.

Airplane mode is turned on ¶ 

Before doing anything else, make sure the phone is not in Airplane mode. If airplane mode is on, the device will not receive any signal. Check this by going into the settings of the phone.

In an area with bad reception ¶ 

It might just be that the area has bad reception. If this is the case, try moving to a different area.

Issues with phone company ¶ 

Check current carrier if there are any problems with the account, or if the company is currently experiencing problems with their service.

Phone antenna broken ¶ 

If there is still a weak signal, it could be that the phone antenna is broken and needs to be replaced. Go to the Antenna Replacement Guide to do this.
