If your Alienware AW610M cursor is unresponsive and moves erratically, or lags and doesn’t respond, follow this page to solve the issue.

Causes

1

Unplug the mouse, then remove all bottom stickers, which show the screw locations. Review the Motherboard Replacement Guide to get further detail. Using a Y1 Tri-Point screwdriver, remove the four base screws and carefully pry the shell open without completely separating it. Release all visible cables and the blue ribbon that connects the motherboard to the casing. Remove the two Phillips #1 screws that hold the board in place and carefully lift it out. Look for signs of burn, corrosion, or cracks on the motherboard; clean with isopropyl alcohol if only minor damage is found. If the board is defective, replace it with a new one, then assemble the mouse back together and test if it powers up and is responsive.

2

Power down the mouse, remove the USB-C cable, and receive. Review the Side Button Replacement Guide to get a better idea on how to power down your mouse. Next, remove the bottom stickers/skates by heating them and using a pry tool or flat head screwdriver to reveal the screws underneath, then remove the four base screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. Pry the shell open from the back, but don't remove it yet. Proceed by unhooking the ribbon or by unplugging in the connectors carefully. Locate and remove the side button assembly, which is either tabs or a screw. Clean the surface with compressed air or isopropyl alcohol, then install the new side button assembly and place it in position. Reattach cables, cover the shell, and put back screws and stickers. Power on the mouse and test both side buttons in Alienware Command Center.

3

Power off the mouse and remove the old mouse feet using a plastic pry tool or flat-head screwdriver. Review the Mouse Feet Replacement Guide for further detail on removing the mouse feet. After removing the old mouse feet, take a clean lint-free cloth and use isopropyl alcohol to remove any leftover adhesive. Peel the backing from the new mouse feet and make sure to align them in the specific area on the bottom of the mouse. Once aligned, press firmly to ensure that they are secure. Turn the mouse back on and make sure that it is gliding and moving properly and smoothly.
