My Problem
The screen was shattered.
My Fix
The repair was very easy, especially with the help of the ifixit videos.
My Advice
It appeared the the new screen was bad as my phone would not come on after the screen replacment. I tried the power button and it would not come on. I tried the home button and it would not come on. So next I tried the power + the home button as if I were doing a reset on the phone and it came back on and has been working ever since.
