My Problem

i had lost my home button the phone worked but I was afraid I would damage it if I kept pushing on the gold inner tab under where ur home button sits.. So I googled and it lead me to ifixit..

My Fix

I got the package and I opened it up there it was but around the circle was extra plastic..dang I wouldn't be able to use it I am not taking the phone apart what to do then I I had a MacGyver moment.. I took some cutters lightly cut the excess off and placed it till it fit snug but not jam it in and it works perfect and won't fall out..stop shaking ur head lol it was 11$ with shipping vs taking it to have it fixed..

My Advice

Very happy and it looks like it did when I got the phone..

My Problem

My son got a new iphone because the home button fell off of his iphone 5. My husband had been thinking about switching from b-berry to iphone but I really didn't want to buy one and have him not like it and change his mind so I asked my son if we could have his broken one and I would get it fixed. I called a few places to see how much and it seemed pretty expensive to fix so I googled it and found ifixit. I checked out one of the guides and then priced out the list of things we would need and it was sooo much cheaper. My husband took a look a the guide and said he could do it so I ordered the parts. They came in perfect condition exactly as pictured.

My Fix

It took my husband about 45 minutes to get the phone apart replace but button and get it back together using the guide. (There wasn't even any swearing!). He is currently using the phone and it is working just great! We had more problems with a faulty sim card then we did with the repair! Now he's tell the kids not to worry if anything happens to their iphones he can fix them!(He's gonna be walking around in blue shirt asking if he can help them any day now!)

Thanks so much ifixit, I have your site bookmarked and will always remember to check there first!

My Advice

My advice, always check with ifixit! I have seen some step by step instructions before but nothing like this, these guides are made for real people not technicians. And the fact that they give you a list and you can get everything you need all in one place makes it effortless.

My Problem

My girlfriend's iPhone 5 was irritating her to no end due to it's limited battery life and non functioning home button. I laughed for as long as I could. She decided to get the 6, and I had full access to the 5. Google fix iphone, click ifixit...yea...this guy got his world rocked.

My Fix

I was geeking out days before reading the manual you guys provided. As soon as I got it, I took it apart. Step by step was clear. It was awesome.

My Advice

Most excited because now I have a new Iphone 5 to use as my sidekick camera amongst other things.

It's a super east fix. I now invited a few of my friends who own iphones with crappy batteries or buttons to a fixit party. Bring your own phone, and parts...and booze...Thank you ifixit girl...I hope you're a girl...

My Problem

Home button stuck.

My Fix

It was easy with your tools and video.

My Advice

Follow the video!

My Problem

The home button on my iPhone 5 fell off and could not use the phone anymore.

My Fix

It went very well. I bought the button and the tools from your site and I used the excellent video that you guys made. I followed it to the letter and had no issues, it took me set by step until the job was completed. I was done in less than 30 minutes.

I did not have the heat pad so I used a blow dryer to help loosen up the button cable very carefully which I would not recommend doing. But, if you have no choice set it to the lowest level of heat and air speed and keep it away from the tiny screws. I was done in about 30 minutes.

My Advice

Get the tools for the job because it will make your job go without a hitch and do not deviate from the video instructions.

My Problem

Battery would not hold Charge and Home Button seal was broken making Button feel loose.

My Fix

All Replacement parts - New Battery/ New Home Button- from IFixit Worked Great. As For the repair overall very smooth. I Found Ifixit on YouTube under Iphone repair they have plenty of useful clips on there. This is my second iphone repair using IFixit parts very Pleased So Far!

My Advice

It was all Pretty Simple really. The Key is dont be in a big hurry and keep track of all the screws as you take them out.

My Problem

My home button on my iPhone 5 completely broke off. I was unable to use the device after.

My Fix

The repair went smoothly. It's truly amazing what can be accomplished when you have the right tools for the job. "ifixit" provided everything I needed to get the home button replaced and I did it in the comfort of my own home.

My Advice

My advice would be to get the right tools the first time and save yourself the hassle and frustration. Getting the job done right with no hiccups is key and very rewarding.

My Problem

home button wasn't consistently working- i tried everything i could find online for suggestions on cleaning out the button, etc. nothing worked so i know i needed a new button, but all the repair places i looked at were at least $60. for $20 i was able to switch it out myself and it works perfectly!

My Fix

took a long time for me to get all the little screws in and out- switching out the actual button was probably the easiest part of the whole thing!

My Advice

definitely make sure that you have the right size screwdriver for the interior screws. I tried to make due with what i had at home (so close, barely a size too big) and it took twice as long (and probably stripped the screw a bit too).

My Problem

home button fell off the iPhone

My Fix

It took about an hour and the phone is now like new.

My Advice

Be very careful with the 5 extremely small screws.

It might be simpler to not unscrew the 3 screws on the bottom part and not to separate the top part of the iPhone from the bottom. The top part could be placed face down and then secure the bottom part at about 75 degrees vertically. Then you would need to only remove the two very small screws securing the button and ribbon.

My Problem

The battery was going out on the phone. 100%..78%..20%.. Dead. All in a matter of minutes. Then the home button snapped in two. The poor little iphone 5 was in bad shape. Still had several months until the contract let me get a new phone. It was either fix it, or buy a temporary phone.

My Fix

After reading some of the experiences of people breaking the screen. I was prepared, and even bought a cheap phone, just in case I ruined it. Getting the screen off was a bit tricky, but I was extra careful. After getting the screen off, it was simple. I had the home button and battery replaced in less than five minutes. I was a bit worried about the quality of the parts at first, but the battery seems to last longer than when I first bought it, and the home button feels great.

My Advice

My advice to anyone doing this, is take your time opening the phone. Instead of pulling straight up, target a corner. It's easier to get a corner up and start ther with the prying. It honestly doesn't take as much force as you think. Just take it slow, and you'll be fine.
