Can I upgrade the logic board from 2.0 to 2.2 ghz?

I have a white macbook 2.0 ghz core 2 duo 2.0 late 2007, purchased January 2008 that I hooked up to a faulty powered usb hub (fried the macbook as well as a keyboard and an mbox 2) and must replace the logic board. Since I am replacing the logic board and the price difference is not too much I figure I might as well upgrade it. Are the 2.2 ghz models from the same timeframe compatible with the 2.0?

Here's a list of the A1181 models. There should be little problem exchanging boards but I would try to stay as close to the same production dates as possible. http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-loo...

Thank you, I ended up replacing the logic board with one from the 2.2 ghz santa rosa macbook, and it works. But it seems my computer is freezing a lot more than it used to, and the keyboard is unresponsive, save for the power button. Any ideas?

Other parts of your macbook could have been damaged by the faulty powered usb hub. Also, did you put thermal paste on the processor before installing the heat sink ?

Look on your 1181 macbook logic board and find the part number.

If it's 820-2279-A you have the choice between 4 different logic boards that will fit in your machine.

820-2279-A 2.0ghz

820-2279-A 2.1ghz

820-2279-A 2.2ghz

820-2279-A 2.4ghz
