MacBook Air early 2015 changes to standby when connected to Magsafe

Hey there,

my Macbook Air early 2015 13” changes to standby when I´m connecting it to my (working) Magsafe. Battery is working as well. When I disconnect it, it´s turning back on by itself.

History, I changed the logic board after the Macbook had a water damage and turned off itself after 10 Seconds. Now everything is working again, except charging.

Does anybody know anything about something like that? I can´t find anything similar.

check connection to the charger as well as battery is there any water damage sign at that place

Hey, no it´s not. The charger (and charging in generell) worked without problems with the damaged logicboard.

I had to replace to LogicBoard again, it´s working now. So if the screen turns black if someone connects the MagSafe it´s probably the LogicBoard.

Are you getting a orange light or green light on the charger while it’s plugged into the MacBook? Also what happens when you press the power button does the magsafe light switch from orange to green then to orange?

I am suspecting a bad keyboard here if the magsafe light colors do change when the power button is pressed.

There is no light, neither orange nor green.

If the Macbook is turned off and I connect the magsafe, there happens nothing, neither if I press the power button.

If it´s turned on and I connect the magsafe, it switches to standby but stayes "on". And when I disconnect the magsafe again the screen turns on again and I can continue where I stopped. (As long as I got power left)

Did you replace the MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) I/O Board when you replaced the logic board? I would start there.

No, it´s the old one...

Is it possible that the old I/O board doesn´t work with the new logic board?

by

No not that, it's likely damaged from the original water damage.

by

But it worked before. The old logic board was damaged, so the macbook turned off itself after 10 seconds but it was able to charge.

by

That maybe! But if it had corrosion damage it likely took a bit of time to finally fail.

As I stated I would start there. If that didn't alter anything then you'll need to work out if the logic board has failed again or if your battery is gone.

I just replaced the I/O Board, still doesn´t work. I guess it´s the logic board.

i am having the same issue. with the 2014 macbookair, when i connect the magsafe charger the display goes to standby mode, (no display) when i remove display turns on. the problem is with the i/o board connector near the ssd, if i clean and solder the corroded connector the magsafe light comes to green and goes to normal orange,

if i close the back cover and i give it little pressure then also it works,

but i am yet to find the broken or loose track responsible for this issue.
