LCD backlight not working

Hi there

I'm having this same issue with my iMac A1225. Although the top half has the dark gradient. Below is what I got back from the computer repair man

'INSPECTED MACHINE, CONFIRMED THAT THE LCD BACKLIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE

SCREEN DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE FUNCTIONING AT ALL. NEW DISPLAY LCD PANEL

REQUIRED.'

My LCD replacement was quoted at 1600.00(AUS)to fix!! I'm furious, I consider this to me a product default and am chasing up with Apple. Will let you know how I go. Otherwise would appreciate if you've had any luck.

Cheers

Here's my previous answer for this problem. I did fix it for $400. I would save my receipt as I feel this should be a recall problem and may someday get covered. iMac Intel 24" (1st gen silver case) LCD Screen Replacement?
