Question about Inverter Cable vs. Inverter Board

So, I have a problem with my backlight (yay)

I took it into the mac store, and they said that the inverter board was not telling my computer to keep the backlight on continuously (something like that)

Rather than let them fix it for 150 buck, I figured I would let my very handy boyfriend take care of it.

To go into more detail, whenever I start my mac up, the back light comes on for less than a second, and then goes off (and stays off), if I fiddle with the brightness settings, it will sometimes come back on for about one second.

ANYWAYS, should I be buying the cable AND the board, or should I just buy the board? Or just the cable?

There are often deals on ebay where the two items are sold together for cheap in the same auction so yes I would buy the two parts to be sure I have the good one when doing the repair.

Sounds like the board, since you are getting a little signal, the cable would be a good investment as well, but doesn't cost much. The Boards are anywhere between $50-$150 and the cables shouldn't cost any more than $30 on places like eBay. Depending on your model of macbook, you will need a different inverter and cable.
