What is the light between the front camera and the mic?

As I was charging the phone I saw a light I've never seen between the front camera and the mic/speaker at the top of the phone. And now I can't turned on the phone. The phone worked perfectly until now.

It looks like there are a lot of reasons it might not turn on. I'm not sure about the light.

Here is a link Why is there an led light shining through the phone speaker slot? regarding the light which apparently (given the other reponses in the link) should not cause any problem regarding starting the phone
