Dies as soon as I unplug it

I have a MacBook pro, 2007 model (not unibody). Every time I unplug it, it will only stay on for about two minutes and then completely shuts off. It does this even though it says it's fully charged. Is this a battery problem? I'd hate to buy a new battery just to find out it's not the battery. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's probably the battery, if it died imediatly after unpluging it, then it might be a problem somewhere else, but since it stays on for a few minutes, then it's the battery.
