Why does my mac pro A1226 ask me to power down

Hello all, I have a problem with my mac pro. When I press the power button to start up my MBP it goes into the usual mode of starting up and then it asks "that I need to restart my computer" with a picture of the power button behind it on a blue screen with light grey lines? Before I start guessing and spending money on what I think may be a hard drive issue can someone help me?

I'd appreciate it very much.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Kernel Panic

is what you're seeing, could be software (if you installed some just prior to this problem) could be hardware if not.

Try to boot in "safe"(shift) mode. If that works you can try looking at the crash log to see if that indicates what went wrong.
