battery drain when powered off

Basically as the title says.

Phone had a new screen & charging port added. Then about 2 weeks later, the battery drain was crazy, so changed battery for a "Genuine" one.

Still the same, however, when the battery dies, you can't charge it up, the apple logo flashes up, then off again.

Only way to charge the battery initially is to plug it into another iphone, then put the battery back in, and it will charge as normal.

I have seen elsewhere, that a charging port can cause the U2 power chip to cause problems? Is this toast if it is, or would another charging port solve this issue?

Phone has been rebooted, and also reset.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

Interestingly, my friend has just sent a screen shot of his battery usage in the last 4 hours. Home & lock screen is at 69% battery consumption

Sounds like you have the potential for a bad battery or a bad charging port. It's unlikely you'd be dealing with two defective ones in a row, so I would try that route first. If that doesn't solve the issue next suggestion would be to take a look at that U2 Power Chip and get it repaired.

Look for a short. Use a multimeter to test if it is electrically hot.

I see less possible to be your battery because it works with other device, but if you have a multimeter then checkout the batt, if doesn't work make valid you guarantee or buy a new one. One little detail, did you check the charging port is correctly installed?

Yes it was fully working, and performing as it should when handed back, and running fine for 2 weeks, only thing he said was different, was that music was played via headphone jack for 4 hours. Which I can't see causing the problem?
