cd drive still dosent work after cleaning

Hi I have a Macbook with a malfuntion cd drive. It just spit the cd out again after 10-20 sec.

I have replaced the cd drive with a similar one without luck.

both drives seem to have the same problem.

I opened one of the drives and cleaned the laser

with alcohol. still no luck.

I only succeeded to get the drive to load few cd's, which both have been leopard installation cd's

Anybody have any ideas?

Options

Without being able to test the machine directly it is hard to tell if there is a extended problem with the drive or if it is the disks. If it were me I would be changing the drive out with a known good one. iFix it does sell used drives for your machine.

This is based on the fact you say it does read the Leopard install disks and not so much others.
