Why does my MacBook sometimes not boot up?

Hi,

I am having some very odd issues with my MacBook.

I recently had a problem with the MacBook not booting up. So, I tried resetting the SMC and PRAM, which had no effect. So, I opened up the laptop, disconnected the battery, reconnected the battery and then it booted with no trouble. Everything was then working fine until I then shut down the computer. The next time I came to turn it on, I encountered the same issue. On a disconnect and reconnect of the battery, all was well again.

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this annoying problem would be massively appreciated.

Thanks In Advance!

Scott

Mayer, as always, is on point.

With the system booted, try following these directions: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201585

That should provide some detail to let you know if this is a battery issue, which is most likely.

Also... much like the battery and alternator relationship in a car.... remove the batter and boot with just the power cable. If it works... and booting with the battery alone doesn't, it's likely the battery. Though, you're having intermittent issues, so I'm not sure if you would be able to get definite results.

Of course. I don't know if you remember this, but you helped me greatly some time ago in getting my a1260 back up and running. I owe you for that.

Brandon - Helping others is thanks enough. Your check got lost in the mail ;-) Glad you're here.
