Who the heck charges anyone. $60 to not fix a phone! Bga work is not something you "try"

This problem is not necessarily one specific ic--use a multimeter to see what exact line is down on your board by comparing to the schematic and a known good board. Water damage can affect an ic, but more common is a short on a capacitor serving that ic

It sounds like the gyroscope is the issue and not the accelerometer. This is an IC soldered to the board, unless you have the equipment and some soldering experience I would not attempt to repair it.

that component is kind of notorious for dying in water damage phones, maybe as much as 60% of recovered water damaged iphone 6 turn out to have this problem.

I have some experience with soldering.. How much dose the part cost?

by

Old turkey is correct iPhone 6 uses two accelerometers and one of them is a combo with the gyroscope. What I meant was the error you are seeing is caused by gyroscope (most likely). If the gyroscope were the issue you need the MP67B and it should be in the $15-20 range here in the U.S.

If no underfill you can reflow like galloham mentioned. Use a heat gun the very least preferably a temperature regulated hot air station

by

I got a water damaged iphone 6 today. Corrosion was bad on the board. After water damage treatment gyroscope was bad. Good news, no underfill on this one so I tried reflowing it and it did not work for me. Customer did not want to pay $100 for me to replace the ICs so... Ill never know :)

rythqu, the iPhone 6 uses a InvenSense MP67B 6-axis which is a combination of the gyroscope and the accelerometer. Having experience with soldering may not be quite sufficient since this is a LGA package IC . BTW, according to Chipworks the iPhone 6 series uses 2 accelerometers. The one right besides the InvenSense is a three-axis Bosch BMA280 accelerometer.....As for cost and where to get it, I'd suggest a good internet search and choose something that is close to you etc.

Replacing if fully is the last thing that I would want to do, that would be a lot more in depth then I could handle my self.. The cpr stole told me that it would be 60$ and their would be no guarantee that they could fix it(they said that they can't order it but I found it online), so I was hopping that I could just fix it my self

don't try replacing the IC yet.. just heat up the gyroscope IC/ accelerometer IC then try to see the result..

i had this Problem once after repairing a water damage of an Iphone 4s heating up those two ICs solved the problem thou i dont know which one was the problem.. you can try one at a time or both at once.. Good Luck

How would you re omen heating it up? First thing that would come to my mind is a hair dryer but I feel that is wrong

by

hair dryer will not provide enough heat at appropriate time.. u should use heat-station or heat-gun with a small diameter heat flow and center the heat on only those ICs for just 5s..

something like this should be good http://www.5thpostulate.com/pr/solder-re...

but u can try with the hairdryer and make sure other parts are not effected.. and i am sure the time will be loger myb 15-20s

i used head-gun-station

by

If I was to do it my self, would I need to take it fully off or could I do it with just the screen taken off?

by

all detachable parts should be off the main board.. and battery is a MUST TO DETACHED

and careful is needed
