Why display is so dim

When i turn on the display is so dim i can barely see the apple and fonts at all. When i tap brighten + button display gets bright for a second, then fades out to black again. I thought video card or logic board needs replacing. Dent in lower right corner indicates it was dropped at some point

Options

Move the screen back and forth to see if it is the inverter cables. If yes, replace the inverter cables. Nothing? Replace the inverter, here's how:

To me this sounds like a back light issue it could ether be a loose connection or the back light itself has gone bad
