How to replace hard drive

what hard drive can be installed? my dealer says its not possible since its a 'vintage'

You can install an ATA/IDE 2.5" drive. If under 128 GB you will have no problems. Your Book will have problems seeing anything over 128 GB. Use the link Markus gave for the drive selection. Here's the instructions on replacing it: iBook G3 12" Hard Drive Replacement

it's possible - ifixit has 4 different hdd's for the ibook g3

You're saying any ATA/IDE 2.5" drive under 128 GB will do? Will a 7200 RPM drive be faster?
