Power button doesnt work after replacing keyboard

Hey guys, I bought liquid damaged macbook pro A1286, I bought replacement keyboard from ebay, replaced it, but the same problems still remain:

left ctrl, shift, command, alt keys and power button doesnt work.

I tried cleaning the keyboard ribbon cable plug, inserting 1200 grit paper and slightly moving it around - did not help :(

What else can I try? How should I efficiently clean the ribbon cable plug?

serial no: W80490NGAGU, the one with 2.4Ghz i5

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

If really sounds like you got a damaged board. I've replaced several of these with no issue. Are these the same keys that were not working on the old keyboard.

Yup, exactly the same keys indeed. I can see tiny spots of corrosion on the ribbon cable plug, so I'm hoping that I can still clean it somehow. I Cleaned whole logicboard using alcohol and toothbrush, gave the keyboard plug a nice brush as well. I think ihave to clean it internally, somehow :/

There are 22 machines with the A1286 designation. Please give us the last four figures of your serial number so I can tell which one you have and try to give you a better answer.

I feel like I will have to re-solder whole Keyboard FPC Cable Connector. Seems like it's rather complicated operation. Is there a method I should try before replacing the connector?

Take a look at step #15 of this guide. I use a piece of tape to help pull the cable completely into the slot. Take a look at the slot and see if you can discern any debris or corrosion in it and let us know your results. This may be a question for Louis.
