Need install disk 2

I purchased a G5 to replace my iMac G4 that died in the storm. The fellow gave me disk one of the 10.4 system. 10.5 is running now.

I did most of the install then it asked for disc 2 to continue. I don't have disk 2, the fellow I bought it from doesnt have it, and now I am stuck in the loop of it asking for Disc2, I cannot boot other than to get that screen. Help! Thank you

Disc 2? I don't recall Disc 2 - at least for a Leopard upgrade. I could be wrong.

In my experience from the PPC days, "Disc 2" was usually the disc that included various applications - such as iLife. It's probably best to find a copy to install these apps and optional components, but you may be able to install just the base system by customizing the install (de-select all the optional installs, printer drivers, apps, etc).

He's right 10.5 for me was a DVD and only 1 disk and so was 10.4 U get an up vote from me 4 spotting what everyone else missed

10.4 was also available in a 4-CD package for older mac users, that didn't have ComboDrives/SuperDrives, if he means that he needs the 10.4 disks

You are correct Daniel. I have completed a install without the second disk by leaving those and the extra language off. Ralph

I had a similar problem trying to restore an Intel iMac to factory installed system 10.4. The Apple retail store advised me to call 1-800-APL-CARE for a replacement restore disc 2, which I did and it cost $17. However, the machine rejected the new disc due to some optical drive problem specific to this model and an Apple Genius installed snow leopard thru the firewire port at no charge. In your case, you would probably have to pay the $75 service fee.

Unfortunately, I don't know what to say other than check Craigslist or eBay for the discs you need.

Sorry!

From what I can tell that computer came with 10.4 originally. If so you can purchase replacement software disk from Apple for about $15 each. I would suggest you contact Apple support and arrange for replacement disk. Ralph
