Can I change my Unibody

My MacBook Pro retina 15" (mid 2012, 2,6 GHz Intel core i7, 16 GB Ram, Intel HD graphics 4000 1024 MB) is relatively scratched.

My question is if someone can change it and if yes how much does it cost?

Thank you very much

I would recommend just replacing the complete lid assembly P/N: 661-6529 (mid '12), 661-7171 (early '13) or 661-8310 (late '13).

While more expensive the amount of work and risk of damage is much less. Besides, you can't buy the shell alone as a part, you'll need to get it from a junker system.

Follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2012 Display Assembly Replacement so the needed steps.

I do recommend getting covers of some sort to protect your system for the long haul.

This is the volunteer DIY help forum. We don't do anything but advise you how to do it yourself.

Study the guide and notes linked at right (not just look them over). If you feel capable of completely dismantling and then reassembling your laptop yes you can change the cases (covers). Only you can determine if it is worth the cost and effort. Before you proceed purchase the recommended tools (every job is easier when you use the right tools)

A workaround would be to put covers on the unit.
