The trackpad is glued to the top case and can be removed but IMHO it's easier to replace the whole top case. Be warned that the 1.2 ghz 12" model trackpad wont fit on a earlier model (connector is different) and that the 1.33 12" trackpad model wont fit on the 1.2ghz model even if the connector is the same. The 1.33 12" has the "scrolling Trackpad" that's why it wont fit with earlier iBooks G4 12" models.

You need to replace the upper case.

Use extreme care on steps 24 and 25. Ralph

OK, which is is it? You gave a link to just the trackpad on eBay and another to the whole Upper case. A major price difference. Sorry to be tough.

Check the photos--it is a complete upper case. for some reason the seller list it as a trackpad. Ralph

I checked it and you are correct. It also has a "Buy it Now" tag. What a deal! Nice find.

As far as i can see rj713 is right. There is no sensible way to get the trackpad out of that topcase. Magical industrial design, sigh.
