yanked connector caused display to go dark

I was almost out of the woods….my repair almost completed. I'd put everything back together…almost, and all seemed well.

I was about to button it all back up when I noticed that the top edge of the screen, up by the earpiece wasn't as flush as the rest of the screen. However, AT THIS POINT, everything was working just fine.

In carefully opening it up again, I must have yanked something off…but I can't figure out what. I have no signal to the display. Zip.

I've since gone in and double check all of the connectors that hide under the small metal plate…the ones that go to the screen assembly. They're all fine…fully seated in their respective connectors, with the metal plate holding them firmly in place.

I've also double-checked the harnesses going to the display, and they appear fine as well. I even made sure that the earpiece assembly was ok…and it is. I removed the two screws, the metal plate with the square cut-out, and then put it all back….no problem…nothing out of place. Hmmm...

At this point, the screen still won't light up, but the phone still works. When I hold the front button down, Siri beeps at me…but no signal to the screen. It's black…as if the phone is powered off.

Any thoughts. I'm thinking it's a loose connector on the back of the screen, but nothing appears to be loose or out of kilter or ripped.

Thanks.

NEW INFORMATION BELOW -

First off, based on the con's answer below, I disconnected the battery for a few minutes. While inside, i again double-checked all connections and I inspected all harnesses for any sign of damage. I even disconnected and re-connected the three harnesses that go to the screen…and reinstalled the cover plate after verifying that they were all properly snapped in to their respective homes.

NEW INFO: After reconnecting the battery, and holding in the power button, I noticed that the screen actually does light-up, but it remains completely black…no Apple logo.

Any new thoughts on what I might be missing?

Also, which part do I buy, assuming I need to replace something, now. I'd hate to buy a part only to find out that it's the wrong part…or that the phone is bricked.

Thanks.

Hi there have you disconnected the battery and tryed start up again?

You could have damaged the screen cables somehow when entering the phone against all is seeded correctly it's most likely damage..

Can you reconnect the old screen and test it if it was working before?

I would suspect board damage near the LCD connector---there are a few filters there that are pretty easy to flick off. If so, they can be replaced and you'll be fine.

Give us a close up picture of the logic board near the LCD connector and we can help.

I've had this happen to me as well. What I did was put the long screw to the earpiece bracket into the bottom hole instead of the top and ended up piercing the lcd ever so slightly. Had to put a new display assembly on. Hope that's not what happened to you. Good luck.
