new LCD not responding

This a has probably been touched on before, but here I go. I replaced the LCD and digitizer on an iPhone 4s, the original screen worked fine but had a small crack. When the new screen was attached I noticed that it would not display anything. I tried to pinpoint the issue by reconnecting the old screen to see if it was due to the replacement being faulty.. The old screen still worked fine. I tried to restore the iPhone to combat any software issues that may be causing the problem. Not only did the new screen still not work, but now the old screen won't even display anything !! Its running on ios 7.1 now after restoring previous was running on 7.0

Someone please help !!

The old screen still worked fine. = the new lcd assembly was defective. this is totally common.

now the old screen won't even display = the iPhone doesn't like you to plug and unplug the screen when the battery is connected. it sounds like maybe you were doing a lot of plugging/unplugging in which case it is likely that you may have damaged the backlight filter.

Either way, return your screen and order a new one and then update here.

Here is a link that may be helpful for checking backlight filter continuity. You would use your multimeter set on 'continuity testing' to determine if there was continuity across these filters in red/orange on the picture
