MacBook Pro Charging Slow

I have a late 2011 MBP that takes 16 hours to charge fully from 0%. Anyone have any idea what could cause this?

Things I've checked:

New power adapter

Cleaned out charging port

Battery appears to be in great shape only having ~40 cycles and holding factory capacity

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Original Apple charger or generic replacement?

Over on Apple Discussions there's a group who have had the transformers in the charger go bad or overheat…(you're not alone)

What country are you in, are you using a surge protector or UPS? (low voltage is as damaging to computer electronics as surge voltage… only a UPS protects against voltage drops).

How you treat the charger (batteries) and cords can cause failure… Contact Apple and see what they say.

Machead,

It's an original replacement I bought from BestBuy. I'm in the US and have tried it both directly on a wall outlet and with a surge protector, but not a UPS. I've never had any other of electronics have any issues with power surges in this house. Apple refuses to help because I don't have a warranty left.

Here's a guide and a though this is the DIY recycle place you have to ask yourself… ~25$? for a functioning replacement?
