Why will my phone not charge properly?

Recently my iPhone 4S started acting up. At first I thought it may have been the battery, so I got a new one from Ifixit. The fix process went smooth, but I'm left with the same problem. My battery charges extremely slowly. It has around a max of 4% charge per hour. The charging symbol also stayed after i unplugged my phone. I know it is not: the battery, my charger(s), or [because some sites have said] the new update. I've changed the battery, used chargers old and new, and even reset my iPhone! Thanks for any information you can give to help.

Maybe you have a faulty charge port or your wall adapter may be faulty.

What kind of wall charger are you using? If it's a cheap after-market one, it could be really weak and not have the full capacity to charge an iPhone at a normal rate. This is like charging an iPad with an iPhone charger, it takes a really long time because the iPhone charger isn't designed to give the higher charge rate that an iPad requires. Just an idea, but if you have an apple charger, than maybe the charger is going like iphonefixer says. Otherwise, I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Hope this helps,

David

All chargers I have used are apple, and I was thinking maybe the charger port as well. However, every site I've went to has said that something will be "wrong" to the sight. Like the adapter (I'm not current in the names of pieces of electronics, but where you plug the charger into) will be bent, a piece missing, or loose. None of these are the case. I was wondering maybe the cord(s) in the iPhone came loose from dropping? I have the Otter Armor so the screen isn't broke, but it has reset like three times after dropping it. I do not think, though, any of these times were near when I began having the charging problem. With this information do you still think it is the charging port, or do you think something else? Either way will I be able to fix it with a product from ifixit or another site, or should I start saving for a new phone?

I think you should spend $5 on a dock connector (aka charge port) and see if that solves the problem. No need to wrack your brain about it.
