Apparently i can buy some components here on etrade and replace the connectors with new ones, but i guess i will have to solder them to the logic board, and that i hope is not to hard lol

Replacing any connector on the board is a straightforward board-level repair, but not really a DIY project. Sending the board out to have the connector replaced is a great way to save the phone and costs less than a screen.

Most shops that offer board-level connector replacements on iPhones will already have all the connectors in stock. It can be tough to find certain connectors--especially on late model phones. These almost always have to come from China and even then the stock can be limited for certain connectors.

You *can* sometimes get away with just reshaping the connector--many times it is just a single pin that is bent down. With great care and magnification, you may be able to use fine tweezers to straighten that pin. Best would be to replace it, but reshaping may help you in your diagnostics to see if this is the only defect in the phone.

How do you find companies that will perform board level repairs that cost less than a screen? My local repair shop quoted $144.00 for a connector replacement on a 5s.

Yes, the connectors are available. Most of them are not an easy find, but they are out there. The soldering is a different matter. Unless you have the right tools and great skills soldering very small contacts to a surfaces mounted devices, I'd be a bit more cautious....good luck.
