I want to do a clean install of the OS system, I read that you put in the cd then hold "C" while booting. I tried that about 10 times and nothing happens. Is there any other key you hold to start from the cd??

Clean your installation disk and see if any other disks will read on your optical drive. +

You can alternatively hold option at startup, that will let you select the drive to boot from.
