my original hd just crashed. It is listed as SATA.
can I install a 1tb Toshiba AT 111 in it's place?
any connector issue?
Is this a good question?

This drive is a 6 Gb/s speed drive. Your Mac most likely has a 1.5 Gb/s bus speed. You will most likely need to jumper it down in speed for Disk Utilities to recognize it.

You are correct. Bus speed is 1.5Gb/s
New drive arrives next week and I will install it.
If I need to change jumpers, which jumpers?
Perhaps the answer will be with the Toshiba drive instructions?
I need the model number of the drive to be able to look that up.
Toshiba Model: PH2100U-1I54 • SKU: 6915678 (1Tb )
as long as its formatted correctly any hd will work

New 1 Tb drive installed, partitioned into 2 segments and working fine.
I assume that the drive auto negotiated transfer rate.
Thanks to all for help.
