My Problem

I needed more RAM to increase my ability to game and work on my MacBook. I decided to upgrade my wife's too.

My Fix

Dropped the RAM in today after I got the parts but have not had the chance to try it out just yet. too busy working but it seems to have done the trick so far.

My Advice

Make sure to disconnect the battery and plugs. And always wear your anti static device.

My Problem

Not so much a problem as a need to update the hardware of my MacBook Pro.

My Fix

The repair/update went very well. I was surprised to find out that two 8GB RAM modules could go into my machine. The SSD/HD hybrid drive was installed easily and doubled the space of my storage to a 1TB. I've noticed speed improvements due to the 64MB SSD cash on the traditional drive. The shared RAM for the HD 3000 went from 384MB to 500MB after the successful RAM upgrade as well.

My Advice

I used a command line ASR (Apple Software Restore) to clone the old drive to the new drive with the USB enclosure included in the upgrade kit. It was a block by block copy which created a bootable clone of my previous HD and expanded the size of the partition to meet the increased space as well. Using Terminal and Disk Utility from Recovery Mode (Command + R on startup with newer Macs) was very easy.

My Problem

Have an Early 2011 MacBook Pro that was ordered with 8GB of Ram from Apple. As a web developer though, 8GB of ram just doesn't cut it any more. Need to start using PhotoShop heavily, & that was the last straw. Ordered up 2 8GB RAM chips, & now my MBP is humming along with 16GB of ram!

My Fix

Super easy to replace RAM chips in the Early 2011 MBP. I'm still temped by the Retinas, but the repairability scores have been keeping me away. Sooner or later I'm sure I'm take the plunge to Retina, but I'll put it off as long as possible with upgrades like this!

My Advice

If you've got an Early 2011 MBP stick 16GB of RAM in it!

My Problem

Ram upgrade from 4 to 16 GB for using bootcamp partition and an emulator and voice recognition all of which requires RAM ( and a faster 6.2K disc)

My Fix

A breeze. Good opportunity to get rid of dust that gets into fan over 2 yrs.

My Advice

follow the guide instructions…

My Problem

Wanted to stream TV to PC and needed more RAM as more applications would be running simultaneously.

My Fix

Very easy

My Advice

My Problem

My new iMac 27" and 2008-early 13" MacBook weren't slow, but I knew they could be faster w/ triple the memory. My wife uses the MB a lot to work remotely, and I was shocked how much faster she could get more of her work done with the add'l RAM

My Fix

A-Okay--no problems whatsoever!

My Advice

More Ram!

My Problem

Needed more RAM.

My Fix

Went brilliantly on the MBP. However went though some (putting it mildly) getting Windows 7 on Boot Camp to work. Booted into black screen and neither Apple, Microsoft, nor any Windows tech forum was any help. After half a day found it was the AMD Catalyst and ATI drivers that needed to be uninstalled and reinstalled. All working well now!

My Advice

See above regarding Boot Camp. (Almost all the Windows forum posts are about incompatible or broken RAM. Not one single thread about RAM that works and is compatible with good solutions. Lots of going into BIOS and work things out there, a bit of a problem as macs have EFI...

My Problem

Ordered 2011 EMC 2429 iMac w/ 4 Mb ram, NEEDED to update RAM in 3-yr old MacBook so I ordered an 8 Mb RAM for my iMac too.

My Fix

Wow--Super easy

My Advice

Do it--cheapest and easiest upgrade I ever did, and I've done several.

My Problem

I have a macMini as mediaserver at home.

To make it run fast with the new mountain lion i used the dual hard drive kit to install an sad hard drive as start volume. The original disk is additional for some space.

The 16 GB of RAM is to make it faster as well.

My Fix

With the iFixit Guides it is absolutely now problem to safely install all the parts. GREAT

My Advice

For all the Do It Yourself people.

This is absolutely GREAT stuff.

Thanks iFixit for the fast delivery even to germany.

My Problem

MacMini really slow now that I have all my software added. MS Word almost unusable.

My Fix

Apple makes adding RAM to the Mini super easy. iFixit it makes it inexpensive!

My Advice

The 8 Gig RAM really added some zip to this machine. I highly recommend this upgrade to anyone with 4 Gig.
