My Problem

Vertical lines on display

My Fix

It was straight forward. Your guide is accurate. The most difficult part was getting started.

My Advice

I used plastic snack bags (zip lock) to keep track of the small parts. As I performed each step the screws, etc., went into a bag that I labeled with the step number. I also made notes as to screw length on the bag although that wasn't necessary since your guide gives that information. The nice thing was I didn't have any parts left over when I was finished just a lot of empty bags.

Your shipment of the replacement was quick.

Having an Ipad to scroll through the guide is helpful since it displays as a single (long) page and I could set it next to where I was working. It would not have been as easy with my Imac.

My Problem

The display began to flicker when using the MacBook on my lap. Gradually it reached the point where the display would only be on at a 75 degree angle or less.

My Fix

I used the iFixit guide to disassemble the laptop, and at the hinge area discovered raw wire exposed in a cable.

Confident this was an easy fix, I taped it, then reassembled the laptop. Guess what? It wasn't fixed!

I came back to iFixit and ordered a replacement display cable. It arrived within three days.

Then I again disassembled the laptop, replaced the cable and reassembled the laptop. Guess what? It worked this time.

My Advice

Here is a clue: if a cable has worn through, it likely also has a bend or break in it. Do the job once!

Also, since I have the Santa Rosa model, I learned quickly that the explanation paragraphs are there for a reason. Read them all before you follow that step!

My Problem

white/gray screen with some stripes

My Fix

instructions excellent and clear, but I've now replaced the motherboard, the hard drive and the display data cable. same problem continues.

My Advice

no, do you?

My Problem

Video became intermittent so I assumed there was a break in the video cable somewhere.

My Fix

The repair went great...took about three hours from start to finish. The online guide was very good, but it left out a couple things so I added notes from my experience.

My Advice

Go slow and read the notes that go with the online guides...learn from others mistakes.

My Problem

DISPLAY WAS RIP AWAY FROM THE BASE...HINGES DATA CABLE EVERYTHING WAS RIP APART

My Fix

REPLACING HINGES /DATA CABLE/INVERTER CABLE AND AIRPORT EXTREME RECEPTORS.....KINDA CHALLENGING ..BUT WAS ABLE TO SUCCEED...THANKS TO IFIXIT FOR HAVING THE PARTS AVAILABLE...IN WHICH I RECIEVED IN A SHORT TIME AFTER ORDERING ONLINE..

My Advice

MAKE SURE ..YOU'RE SETTLE AND YOUR ENVIROMENT OR WORKING AREA IS CLEAN AND FREE FROM HINDERANCES....AND MAYBE SOME NICE MUSIC..

I'LL TRY AND POST SOME PICS SOON
